Are Used SUVs as Feature-Filled as New SUVs?

How Do Features compare on Used and New SUVs?

Each year an SUV is introduced to the public, there are new and exciting features included. While many of these features are designed to look brand new, the truth is many of the highlights are rollovers from previous years. Of course, there are a variety of new features that are incorporated and unveiled in new models; however, most of the time the features do not vary greatly.

Features Available on Used and New SUVs

Many people would not consider purchasing a vehicle that is over six or seven years old, so the used vehicles found at dealerships are typically within this age range. While there may be changes in features available based on makes and models, some vehicles offer similar features.

Touchscreens

While many people think touchscreens are a newer invention, the first vehicle with a touchscreen was in 1989 in the Buick Riviera. It took a few years to gain popularity, but soon this feature was being incorporated into many vehicle models. While the newer SUVs may have a larger touchscreen and different apps available, the used models will usually have some adaptation of the touchscreen.

Bluetooth®

First introduced in 1999, Bluetooth® is a popular feature. People like knowing they can make phone calls and text without having to take their eyes off the road or hands off the wheel. This feature can be found on many used and new vehicles, so those in the market for a used SUV should not feel discouraged.

Push Button Start

People have quickly become fans of the push button start feature in vehicles. While this was first introduced in 1912 in a Cadillac, it did not gain popularity until the early 2000s. While this may be a bit harder to find in all used SUV makes and models, if this is something that will make or break your choosing a used or new SUV, you should be able to find several used SUVs with this feature.

Auxiliary Jacks

If you are worried you will not be able to play your favorite tunes from your phone, have no fear. Auxiliary Jacks started getting incorporated into vehicles around 2005 and have only grown in popularity since. The odds of finding a used SUV with an auxiliary jack are in your favor.
